Lol, it is similar in taste to black forest gateaux but isn't a cake. It's one of those less is more things, you might want to eat a lot but you couldn't. Although there is a little sponge in it, there is only a tiny thin layer, just enough to soak up the kirsch, no more. The chocolate cream bit is similar to something like Nutella in thickness, so again, only a thin layer otherwise it becomes far too rich and heavy. You are only adding enough cream to melted chocolate to prevent it turning back to a solid. See, I love Black Forest gateaux but am rubbish at baking cakes, they always come out too heavy, plus I have gluten intolerance so it makes me ill. I can tolerate very small amounts of gluten though so can at least have things with trace amounts (didn't used to be able to tolerate any at all so this is amazing to me!) I cheat and buy a small GF chocolate cake and just slice bits off thinly:p have a go! I learnt to make loads of good GF desserts, everyone always loves my cherry triffle and they can never believe it is gluten free.

Chicken breasts stuffed with spinach, garlic, ricotta and parmesan and then wrapped in parma ham and served with baby new potatoes and fresh green beans. Chocolate brownie with chocolate and vanilla mouse layered on top and shaved chocolate topping, oh and a few morello cherries, because I like them and they are good with everything!

Now sitting here enjoying the aroma of freshly ground coffee beans and wishing desperately I could drink it without getting ill.

Brioche, lightly toasted with a thick layer of brussels pate then topped with a thick beef fillet, sealed on each side, red wine added to the pan and finished in the oven with new potatoes boiled in vegetable stock until soft then thrown into a vegetable pan, cut in half or broken up, a few cloves of crushed garlic added (in skins), plenty of seasoning, butter and olive oil and then roasted until crisp all over and fresh steamed baby carrots and green beans. From the meat juices and wine reduction I made a light sauce to go with it, just added a small amount of beef stock and topped with enough of the vegetable stock that the potatoes were cooked in to make enough for two. Pour the reduction over the meat tower.

For desert it should have been pears poached in a good maple syrup with homemade vanilla ice-cream and a stem ginger and lemon crisp. I say should have been because stupidly when I removed the steak from the oven and placed it on the side to rest I forgot that the saute pan had been in the oven and picked it up bare handed and managed to nastily burn my right hand. After that i had to get the hubby to serve and dessert was skipped. I spent the rest of the evening with a glass of red wine in one hand and a glass of ice water in the other so that I could wrap my hand around it and soothe all the burnt parts. It still hurts this morning:( I am a muppet. Dinner was very tasty though but had to get my husband to cut it up for me as I only had one hand! It was interesting!

Ouch, hope your hand is better! Sudocrem heals all that ails you....in my opinion lol it's supposedly good on burns anyhow, and cheap :)

I didn't know that and I think I may have some so will try it out, thanks *hugs*. Today it is only painful if I touch anything, it effectively means I can't use that hand at all and as it is my right hand that is more than a little inconvenient. The burns are also hardening so maybe the cream will help with that if nothing else. In the meantime Dave is running around after me and being my right hand - literally! Took me 15 minutes to fill the dish washer, one item at a time, having to carry from the kitchen to the utility room. Such a nuisance! At least I have one though so don't need to worry about washing dishes by hand. Those baskets of ironing will just have to wait *sigh*

Burns are bad enough but it just sounds so much worse when it's the hand :( hope the cream helps. Your hubby will have to cook dinner tonight, let him spoil you ;)

Had a weight watchers meal, by choice. Although I've been very naughty lately I still have a lot of weight to lose so try to stick to those for for majority of the week, especially while Dave is away at work in London. As to the hand it is vastly improved thanks:) the cream helped and time too. I'm currently sitting out in the back garden in a new lawn chair I bought this afternoon and supping on Bacardi and coke. Sadly the Mosquitos are starting to snack on me so maybe it is time to go back indoors.

All good thank you, Robby. Aside from burst blisters on finger tips there is barely sign that anything happened at all! It is amazing that so much pain can leave so little evidence behind. That is not a complaint though!
