“Blood Curse”series by Tessa Dawn
(Urban Fantasy and little romance, not too racy)

Blood Destiny
Blood Awakening
Blood Possession
Blood Shadows
Blood Redemption
Blood Father
+ More to come :-)

Plot:
Two races of Vampires descended from 2 Romanian Royal brothers who were the progeny of Celestial Gods and humans. Both lineages Cursed:

The House of Jaegar cursed to walk at night only, Wholly Evil.
The House of Jadon cursed but given a boon of 4 mercies as they were judged not to be evil, but failed to stop Jaegar.

In 800 BC, the Celestial Beings had all but become extinct because the men became too mad in
their endless blood lust. Finally the royal Romanian Demir twins, Jeager and Jadon, were brought before their accusers, The Blood of countless female victims, for their punishment and revenge.
Because their transgressions against the women of their race they were cursed to never feel the
love or companionship of a female or have female children. They would always have sons in sets
of two, spawned of humans who would die terrible deaths upon giving birth (the twins come out Alien style, ripping their way into the world), and both sons would be evil. Also the firstborn son of the first set of twins would need to be sacrificed. If this sacrifice of atonement was not made the penalty would be a horrible death. To make sure that they truly suffered, they would be made immortal, forced to drink the blood of innocents and remain in the darkness of night. This curse would follow them and their descendants for all time.

Jadon begged mercy from his accusers. He was not truly evil at heart and he begged that they have mercy on him and his house. After searching his soul the accusers amended his curse. Jadon and his descendants were granted 4 boons:

1. He and his descendants would be able to walk in the daylight
2. While they would have to subsist on blood they needn't kill to do so.
3. Though they still couldn't have female children, they would have one chance at finding a mate and there would be signs as to who that may be. They would have the cycle of the moon to find their destiny, turn her, impregnate her, and deliver (magically, so their mate wouldn’t die in childbirth) the twins (only a 48 hour gestation time) for the sacrifice.
4. Finally, The sacrifice of a child would still have to be made but only one of the firstborn twins will be a dark one (EVIL) and the other a Child of Light (good), allowing the Dark twin to be sacrificed, saving the lighter, purer one, to carry on his line. All other offspring (twin boys always) of the pair would the children of light.

The author explains to us the origins of the Vampires of legend, and then introduces us to the Silivasi brothers of the House of Jadon. The series focuses on mostly on the Silivasi brothers (Nathanial, Marquis, Nachari, Kagen) and Napoleon, the leader of the house of Jadon as they find their mates or “Destiny's” as they are called. Naturally the Vampires of the House of Jaegar try to thwart this along with the Werewolves, who are at war with both houses of Vamps. The Series takes place in a valley in the mountains of Colorado of all places… Romania to Colorado who would have thought?

Each book is about one of the family or extended family finding his "destiny". You might think this would get old after a while, but the author spins the plots masterfully and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The author does an excellent job on the characters you can almost "feel" them. I changed back and forth from rooting for the human female “destiny” to escape, to hoping she gives into the Vampire so he doesn't die a horrible death.

I highly recommend this Series to any Urban Fantasy reader who likes Vampires, Werewolves and Magic in a modern day setting. Be sure to have plenty of free time, this series is a page turner.
