That is well and good that she is dying her wings, but why can't Quinn just contact Queen Lissa by mind like she did when the planet blew up? She is also a scardy cat about getting answers to some of her questions.
Quinn seems to be reluctant to ask for anything unless she is under immense pressure or if someone else is in immediate dire need, so it probably has not occurred to her that she merely needs to ask in order to receive help.
One must have the confidence to ask questions, and the trust to believe the answers … one must be learned the other must be earned.
Reading is a gift to yourself that you can share with everyone.
Also also...as far as Quinn knows, the planet exploded seconds after she left and everyone on it died. The snippet mentions she spent a month mourning, and while she is aware of Lissa (and other's) ability to transport, she does not know that they would necessarily be able to move *everyone* in time. I could see her assuming everyone (including several of her mates) is dead, castigating herself that she sent mindspeech to Lissa and not Kaldill, and not wanting to send mind speech and confirm her fears that everyone is dead.
I'm also wondering is the Orb did some messing with the timeline, that is, whether Quinn is still in the "present" compared to where she was since Lafe is there (and we still don't know his story except that he's from falchan's past).

"I hadn't heard that," Salidar sighed. "I won't let it interfere with her training, but that's good information to know. How painful is that?"
