Here`s a wee snippet Connie gave us yesterday

Connie Suttle Author Here's a short WhiteWing snippet to (hopefully) make you feel better: Ilya: Smile and grip his hand, Zaria reminded me as Loor came to me after greeting Flyer. I did, allowing a congenial mask to slide into place.
"I never expected a Blevakian," Loor went to Bleek after exchanging pleasantries with me.
"My mother said the same thing," Bleek took the offered hand.

Paricos II
Lew Velker
He was Falchani trained. My eyes strayed to that particular line in his dossier as I studied him. Not Falchani, mind you, but anyone the Falchani agreed to train was formidable, or they wouldn't have agreed to the training.
This is a warrior, my mind warned me.
Subtle.
Deadly.
They all were who'd passed a Sursee's tests.
I felt as if his dark eyes assessed me. Read in me that I was university-trained in antiquities.
That I'd lost my credentials by obtaining artifacts by less than scrupulous means. I wanted to squirm under his gaze, but that would be unprofessional, besides allowing my insecurities to dictate my actions.
Breathe, I reminded myself.
Master Tamp wanted this one—to protect me on Alliance worlds while I searched for more of the spheres. I was now in charge of his treasure hunting operations, and he wanted the best security for me, since I had experience the others lacked.
I'd been well-paid for what I'd I brought to him; in the past, I'd never seen him in person. He'd taken an interest in what I held this time—a great deal of interest. Enough that I'd actually met him, although I couldn't be sure whether the face he showed me was disguised or real.
It didn't matter; I now had a steady, generous income and the ability to do what I did best—with guards at my back to protect me while I did it.

We can send Halimel in two days, Rylend's mindspeech broke into my thoughts. And, just so you know, Garwin Wyatt, Travis and Trent just won the Founder's Prize for Diplomacy in the mock trials.
Seriously? They won?
I think Garwin Wyatt was leading the charge, but yes, they won. Teeg wants to send Wyatt as a diplomat somewhere; I think he may be ready, now.
Well, after so many years of school, I'd expect something in return, I said. Does this mean my twins are coming home, or are they going to hare after another adventure?
You need to talk to Drake and Drew, Ry's mental voice held laughter. I think they may have mentioned a life of piracy.
So soon? I expect their diplomacy skills are going to rot quickly. Which ship do they have their eye on?
They want to sail with Amos Thompson and Bear Wright.
Of course they do. They wanted BlackWing I, because it was the fastest in the fleet, no doubt. Your step-son and your younger brothers are going to get in trouble, I just know it, I added.
They are adults, although you can't always tell that, Ry observed.
So are their fathers, I said. Ry's mental laughter made me smile.
