I sort of piggy back after pony's topic should Reah be allowed to be a teenager and it got me thinking.
It is me or is there similarity between Lissa's five year time (year and a half or so she actually served) she was to learn about being a vampire and Reah's time in the alliance?
1) It's a 6 year conscription, basic training and the events up to Demon Revealed took up the first year which means she has five years remaining with the ASD.
2) I don't see a lot of similarities, the conscripts have a lot more rights than the vampires, the conscripts get paid, and once Reah decides she is done taking Norian & Lendill's crap there is really very little they can do to her ...
3) The vampires five years under their Sire, was for learning how to be a vampire and how to stay under the radar (keep the race hidden). Human conscription is for having a larger military on tap.
4) The ASD poached Reah, I don't think we can count that as normal.
Reading is a gift to yourself that you can share with everyone.
I don't think that Reah will serve the full term, I am wondering if her out will be the rule that Wyland, Gavril and Reah discuss on the rooftop at the end of the book.
"The one that allows any Alliance conscript to leave the Alliance's employ if they marry into royalty"
I am wondering if her mating with Rory would count toward this since he is technically a prince. It does not specify if it has to be a King or a Queen.
