Well, I am reading the books again, Dragon told Lissa that M'fiyah or mate recognition is between the immortal races in book 4.
So if its the mate thing causing the block..... She could read Bill in the past, because he wasn't immortal yet, so there was no mate recognition to stop it???

OK, I know that's weak and I'm reaching.
But doesn't M'fiyah occurs only when the two couple agreed in a past life?
Yes, but I think they have to be immortal to recognize it.
I doubt it is right anyway, something else is causing the blocks probably. It seems clear to me her mate's are involved but they could be the reason rather than the cause..... Maybe..... lol
Connie did use an alternative timeline in the first book series, so that is not ruled out here.
Kifirin arranges for Roff, Giff, and Toff to interact with Lissa on Refizan, Kifirin, and Earth. In those instances, Lissa has been a vampire a year, Roff is age 313, and Toff is age 40.
