Storyline

Karathian? Check. I figured that one out. Larentii? Check...need for sun was a giveaway, although her ability to eat was a misdirection. I'm assuming that will change. She will of course be granted a reprieve, or there would be no more books.

As far as keeping her Karanthian Warlock abilities, she appears to mirror Breanne's abilities, but how that applies to what she is now, I don't know.

I only have one plot argument, but this may be related to how Breanne had to re-do the Earth timeline at the end of the God Wars, but still...

Opal and Matt. Toward the end, it becomes clear that Matt knows something, and is aware of matters beyond Earth (he would, being so central to the God Wars plot), and Opal knew for sure what Breanne could do. Cori was nearly identical to Breanne in ability (other than the whole vampire thing), and that <should> have triggered Matt and Opal's senses, but they trod through most of the book as if this was new stuff to them. It stood out to me. Hopefully this will be explained in some way. Also, they both had extensive knowledge of the Siranelli, and should have almost immediately pinged on that based on what they were seeing, yet they did not. I knew it was Siranelli in the first book.

Next, Illya's obsession doesn't concern me in the least, as he will at some point meet Kay. Now that the Larentii cat is out of the bag, it won't take long for the major players to come back into the light. Other than that, though, it was a very enjoyable read. Certainly in line with the rest of her works, which I enjoy very much. I have read each series multiple times. they are like old friends.

Oh, and I place the timeline after the end of the God Wars by the fact that Kalengar showed up at the end to collect her. My assumption is based on the fact that he came as the head of the Larentii council, and that prior to GW, he had not been heard from in millennia.
