Never liked Norian from his first appearance. Thought he had changed slightly after becoming one of Lisa's mate. Was I ever wrong about that! He has gone totally over the line now and no one would miss him if he got eliminated!

I think you are so right. Norian's snake is much easier to like than when he is human!!

I agree with the comments posted. I didn't think Norian could get any worse, I was wrong. What I am most surprised about however is that he has not had any comeback, either from Ildevar, Kifirin, Lissa or any of Reah's mates?!
I am definitely looking forward to him getting his comeuppance.

Well to be logical about it, Norian's behavior is probably due to outside interference. What everyone forgets is that there are two sides to every war ... the opposition is not going to allow our side to go unopposed. Therefore you need to expect that everything we can do ... they can do too.

1) King and Queen vampires ARE susceptible to compulsion (Kifirin vs. Jovana).
2) Why are all the races tending to commit their own genocide? Look at the patterns ... they tend to look alike.
3) Direct attacks tend to put the other side on notice and increase defense / attacks ... what's the alternative?
4) Give the opposition credit for intelligence, there is a difference between Evil and imbecile.
5) I can't name a single war where one side won all the battles ... Reah's daughter may be a lose.

Okay, enough logic for now ... flog Norian =p.

Larry you are making my brain ache with your well considered logic. I may be reading too much, or too little, into it but are you suggesting that the Other Side has gotten to Norian and compelled him to act so horridly? Could he use the old "the devil made me do it" excuse to avoid a flogging? Regarding your second point I note that humans tend to kill what they don't understand, or that which is different, perhaps this trait is shared by other races in La'Re'Qitzi.

If those few thoughts make your brain ache ... I'll keep the deeper ones to myself.

Yes, I believe Norian could be being "helped" with his decisions, although I refuse to excuse those decisions being allowed to stand. Oh well ... that is a rant for a different topic.

Basically theses are a few questions (of many) that I have noticed have not been asked or, apparently, considered. There are a lot of people reviewing this book that are taking the "OMG that's horrible" or "does she hate men" mentality ... that really pisses me off. If you read a lot (guilty!!) you tend to learn to look way beneath the surface for clues and to keep an open mind. What some people see a as "bad" book that resolves nothing I see as a start of the opposition ... think big picture I have not seen any gratuitous torture, that means there is a reason behind it all ... even if we don't see it right now.

It's just more fun to bash Norian ... he is acting like a total asshat so I am calling him on it, if my conjecture is correct he is susceptible to compulsion / nudging / influence he needs someone standing behind him to smack him out of it. I have just left the tedious logic out of my thought process while typing up posts :-)
