Well, I'm not sure how I feel about the book. (I'm not saying I didn't like it), I just don't know if I love it like YMG83 does.

Again we have a traumatized female lead, at least this time she wasn't beaten and battered over a long time period. I like the her name Corrine. she has cool superpowers though she kinda gets scary at the end of the book. I like Ilya too hope he doesn't turn out to be bad later. Of course Cori would know if he was (hopefully)

so many unanswered questions, which is typical of a Connie book.

What's the origin of the drug? (nectar of the gods?)
why does it affect everyone different?
what exactly does it do?
how were the bad guys able to replicate it so easily from just blood?
what up with what happened in 1969 and 1986?
how do you grow fully developed clones in such a short time?
What the hell is up with the lizard chameleon she creature at the end?
is this set in the same universe as her other books?

those are just off the top of my head.

Got it on my mind to change my ways, but I don't think I can be anything other than me.

There are a lot of things that happened in 1969 & 1986 that could be tied into the story. A couple off hand -

1) The moon landing & the Challenger disaster. (Possibly extraterrestrial.)
2) The nuclear non-proliferation treaty & Chernobyl disaster. (Possibly mutation.)

Please note that these are possibilities not supported by the book … so run with them at your own risk … lol.

I really liked the book also. It is too early to say its my favorite though.

Corinne reminds me of Lissa in a lot of ways -- her humor especially. That adds a lot to the book and makes Corinne seem more personable.
I liked the fact that Corinne faked having no talent for 5 or 6 years.

There is a lot of unanswered questions but it's the start of series. Some of my questions are:

Who was Corinne before she was given the drug? Was she someone important or just happened to be the only one alive and they wanted to know what happened? I think she was more than just the last person alive -- no one knows her original name, even August.

There ends up being a lot of clones in the end. Becker clones, the lizard woman, and Chief of Staff, Hal Prentice. So who is really doing all the cloning? Is the cloning separate from the drug or are they related?

Also, there seems to be a lot of cooperation between the bad guys at this time. The people who are after Ilya want to kill him while the same people are after Corinne. Unless there is only one bad guy.

What does "Cloud Dust' mean? Where did this drug come from?

Just finish my second reread. The first time I practically flew through it. All I can say is wow!!!

Yes I want to know what the event in 1969 and 89 were, though she did state they happened in Russia I think . My first thought was something like the Tunganiska event I think it's called but the dates are wrong.
I think there're May be even more to reveal about Corrinen, and what are the effects of a second dose of the drug going to do to her. Is she going to gain even more powers and why was Leo carrying a syringe of the drug whith him hmmm..... Questions on questions.

I think there is a tiny pointer to Corinne's past very early in the book when she is explaining that she writes under a pen name. "There wasn't any way I wanted to give up an entire catalog of work again, just because I used my current name." Catalog of work could cover many things, but I expect it means that her past self was fairly well known.

I loved this book! Now I have 2 new series from Connie that I am hanging out for. Robbietonk I was wondering all those things too as well as this one.
Corinne stated that she felt herself die in Paris then she felt herself die again at the end of the book. Did someone have the serum to give her straight away or did they take her dead body or......?
What was Corinne in the first place that she alone ( a 75 yo woman) survived the torture etc, died and was able to come back to life (was revived?), then was able to handle the serum when all the other test subjects where young, healthy mostly military when given the drug and even then only 8 survived (2 were killed) all the rest died - 99 i think it was.

well if I'm reading this right the scientist that "developed" the drug if he did actually develop it was as an anti ageing drug and it reversed his ageing as he was actually the first recipient, after testing it on himself ( very unscientific methodology lol). Although given that Ilya was also advanced in years and also dying of cancer it would be interesting to know how old the other surviors were perhaps it wont work for those under a certain age and are perhaps in the process of dying anyway.
Also we now have a tenuous link to the Le`ath Veronis universe confirmed on Connie's face book page in the form of the character Davis Stone lol (i didn't quite get it i knew it was a wolf but didn't quite get the right one arrrgh) and it has been hinted that other character may make fleeting appearances. Just how this is going to tie in the RD-1 books to her other books remains to be seen. However I was actually warming to connie developing a whole new universe and who is to say she has not theres no rule to say you cant reuse names elsewhere.

Random question - who actually did the cloning of Moxas? In the end he was an amalgam of different species, could Earth have gotten alien DNA and idiots started to play with it?

The Ra'ak, Moxas was half Bright Elemaiya, half Dark Elemaiya with a bit of Ra'ak spliced in for extra fun insanity.

They may have gotten ahold of some of Saxom's ash … if someone did not separate him after Adam killed him, but to the best of what I can remember all the Moxas' were separated.

Sooooo...I downloaded the free "The Stroke of Midnight: A New Year's Anthology" after reading "Cloud Dust." Connie's contribution was: "GSW, Or How I Met My Mother." I have been banging my head against the walls at regular intervals since I got near the end of the story because it oh, so casually mentioned that Conner (the story is from her POV) was a writer of mysteries that involved a female sleuth and, oddly enough, said books were published under a pen name.

While it could be possible, I don't think Conner is Corinne. She already has enough grief to deal with as The Mouth and The Guardian … also, as Ilya is not mentioned in any of the latter time line books, concerning Conner, that would add doubt to that theory. I get the felling Corinne will not be letting Ilya out of her life.

Something I think everyone overlooked on her powers she sees the future so she new that she would be needed when she was needed. Implies this right from the first. When she new that guy was going to die. I also see this right about the time of Lisa or just after.just think about the Boise pack was lead by Davis.

Well, she knew that Hugh Lawrence was going to die because she killed him. Even though that power was announced later in the book she was using it as one that had experience with it, I doubt that power would be easy to live with the first time it was used.

Does she have the power to Look? As of right now I don't think so … I think it more along the lines of Lissa's danger precognition.

As for the time line I would have to say post Lissa's disappearance and probably pre God Wars, although I could make a case for either pre or post God Wars.
