As Waris says, the Mighty Mind is a different kettle of fish entirely. I forget who said it but in the latest book there is mention of the fact that the mighty mind would know exactly what to do and so on. As we saw Ashe from a young age come to awareness of his powers and eventually that he was a Mighty then we know it isn't an instant process, we also know from Breanne that the person can come into their powers much later in life, keep in mind that she was an old woman before the turn. So, it is entirely possible that Tony was not yet aware when he was human and possibly not straight away as Vampire either. However, when he did become aware he would have the knowledge to hide his own identity and to hide it well. This is the Mighty Mind, we don't know much about them but we do know that they are not the same as the other Mighty, ho is to say that they have powers other than vast knowledge of all? They may not have the power to save worlds and change things, etc. If, and this is a big if, it were Tony he would have the powers afforded him as a vampire, together with that vast intelligence it is entirely possible he could work out how to traverse time and place a few compulsions here and there which would alter things slightly, enough to achieve some of he things that we suspect the Mind could have been responsible for. Keep in mind though, this is the only character so far (in my rereading the entire series) with the grey eyes. More possibilities may come! I'm a bit bugged about Charles, as yet his eye colour hasn't been revealed, unless I missed that somehow. Pretty much everyone elses has though. Anyway back to Blood Domination!
Ashe took a few years to fully develope once he started getting powers, I believe he was a teenager.
Bree got her powers almost immediately after becoming immortal, she just had to learn how to use it, plus she already had powers as a mortal.
In addition to Larry's points......
Tony is a spawn hunter, there is no way he can work for Belen and receive powers from him if he is already a mighty, he would get caught.
Lissa can smell power, and if he shielded she would note the lack of scent and be busted.
Tony is a good guy most of the time but he can be a ruthless a$$hat and has done a lot of stupid things. His attitude does not line up with the selflessness of the mighty's or even the new nameless ones. Especially the one that will embody wisdom.
I will say I could be wrong, but Tony is so unlikely I would be socked if he was.
I have a crazy theory, the mind recruited Thurlow to help clean up after Brea to avoid timeline issues. I don't think it was the mind using compulsion on Radomir. Connie went out of her way to write a snippet in Lissa's diary about how Thurlow isn't around much and showed up for a booty call. I have the feeling that the booty call part wasn't the important information.
Oh, and Thurlow has gray eyes.
Just food for thought, or obsession about Connie's plot line...
Yep, was just going to mention that.
Lisa's talking of Gabron - Blood Domination - "Blonde hair was carefully brushed away from his forehead and dark grey eyes held mine for a moment"
The thing is with the Mighty, they could be anything, as long as they were born to one of the races. It has already been proven that they can't be detected by anyone, including Belen. In saying that though, I am inclined to agree on it not being Tony, but it is possible that it could be. Until I find out otherwise my money is still on Trik.
No doubt, all of my arguments are based on assumptions and guesses only. Especially the crazy theory.
I can easily see it being Trik, Heh, be ironic if Zellar fathered a mighty.....
I also wouldn't bat an eye if it turned out to be Nissa
Nissa threw around power that is abnormally strong and complex not only for her age (12) but for even most full grown female wizards, she is away from the center of things (after blood reunion), and of course, is related to Lissa as the other two mighty's are.
Plus she has that giving selfless attitude we have come to expect from Connie's protagonists. I think this is important, it is one of the few ways Connie has been predictable, only supporting characters are, for lack of a better word, mean and selfish at times.
Of course, it could just be the Karathian and Elemaiyan blood that gave her the extra juice. And she was young in the book, Gavril was nice as a kid too, and we know how that turned out.
The only other noteworthy thing is she couldn't be found via looking, when she was missing. This is a common attribute of the mighty, and of course a few others.
I'm in the middle of blood reunion now, I'll add more if I notice anything.
Another common "theme" of Connie's lead characters seems to be that they have suffered from abuse in various forms so maybe we need to look at characters who have been abused in some way so Trik could be a possibility if this trend holds true
Couldn't agree more Robby, that and a few other things are what keep making me come back to Trik. Of course we could all be totally wrong and it ends up being someone else entirely. Aren't all of these possibilities delicious though!
