Ok, I didn't go through and grab quotes and I won't now mostly cause I'm tired and don't want to search the book, but in the book Gavin told Lissa that the way he sees Bree changed when she hit him with the love after Gavril's death.
As for what happened in the past, we don't know who changed him then, I am assuming it was the mind but who knows..
As for the MiFiyah it is either there or it isn't, I never suggested it exists, doesn't exist or was added. For the record I think they always had one and the mind cloud blocked it in book 1. I don't think we know yet though either way.
As for pigeon holing Gavin that one is easy, he is an autocrat and an a$$, the only people he is nice to are Lissa and now Bree, and only because he was changed to be so in both instances.
Quotes are not necessary ... lol, you are as entitled to your own opinion(s) as we all are.
Love has a way of changing people, that is what I believe happened to Gavin post Teeg, as to the past ... as I said "I don't think we have been given the reason behind Gavin's behavior change yet."
When one assumes that actions have been taken instead of waiting to be told or at least have an indication is usually a great way to fall afoul Connie's plot twists. Those are, in my opinion, the best parts of reading the books ... predictable is boring.
Reading is a gift to yourself that you can share with everyone.
When talking to Lisa, Gavin said that he "did not want to lose another child" - this was when Lisa had just come back from being with Bree at the beginning of the book.
Tanya, he would be referring to losing that little mentioned child Gavril/Teeg. hehe to be fair I did a quick mind shuffle when I read that line too but quickly realised.
