yes, the James Rome Jr. age vs the 35th anniversary is kinda of weird.
Lexsi says that she "had to do something or he'd die - the real James Rome Jr., who didn't look like the real James Rome Jr."
When she finds him - James Rome Jr., looking emaciated and in his late twenties was chained and gagged in Laurel's closet.
Based on the Davis Jr, Thomas (III) being the FBI agents, James Rome Jr. should be in his late 50's or early sixties. this would also support his an Laurel's 35th anniversary.
He did spend time are south star, so his aging could have been reversed some... Then we have Bree's rebuilding of the timelines. She said Old Earth was a real bitch.
I guess only Connie knows the answers to these mysteries

I think you’re overlooking a very simple explanation. The real James Rome Jr. now looks like the person who took over his body. If the person was a warlock (or other with Power), the looks of age are not relevant. If you want to get Machiavellian about it … it’s going to be damn difficult for someone that appears to be in his 20’s to claim to be the real James Rome Jr., thus stripping him of his fortune and identity (and possibly landing him in a rubber room).
Reading is a gift to yourself that you can share with everyone.
Larry, you are probably right, I definitely missed that simple answer. I even quoted the clue - the real James Rome Jr., who didn't look like the real James Rome Jr.
Face palm

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but with Lexsi having such an easy childhood compared to the other female main characters, she seems more uncertain and has less confidence in herself than most of the others. I think her safer childhood gave her the safe feeling that someone is always going to come and save her, which Lissa and Reah never had. It doesn't really make Lexsi weaker, just makes her appear to be less confident.
I didn't get that vibe but I think that thing can be pretty subjective so it's just my opinion.
Yes, she lacks confidence that she is as talented and capable as her mother and grandmother, but that doesn't mean she isn't confident in herself. There were some errors and freeze ups, and I would put those things against your idea, she's never faced that much adversity before.
As far as base confidence, unrelated to living in the shadow of her family's accomplishments, she is much more confident than Reah. Reah was a complete mess throughout her books. Reah was brave and overcame it and functioned, but I think she was the weakest character of the three. Lissa was without a doubt the strongest, and if you remember she had some major issues as well from her past such as panic attacks.
I like Lexsi as a character. It was refreshing to see normal doubts and concerns that wasn't based on being beaten and abused. Of the three she's also the only one who never tried to suicide... so... there is that. My impression was she was more worried about not measuring up than any fear about actually stepping up. Self-doubt is normal.
