Larry, sorry in advance if this should be under another topic. Since this is about Blood Queen I am putting my thoughts here. I want to say Blood Queen is a favorite of mine in the Blood Destiny series. Not sure why, however for some reason I started reading the Amazon reviews of Blood Queen this morning, which quickly left me with a queasy feeling. Have any of you read them, or even some of them? I know some reviewers love to tear down an author, however some of the reviews were just mean and nasty! It is one thing to say you did not like a book and add several reasons why. It is entirely different to slice and dice a book in the spiteful manner some of these reviewers did. I do agree with honest dislike of a book, I do not agree with hateful reviews! Blood Queen still has a four star rating even after those unkind comments because it is a wonderful book. I sincerely hope Connie Suttle did not read these reviews and on second thought wish I had not!
I tend to discount 1 star Amazon reviews unless they total over 90% of the reviews. But if you think about it ... this is book six in the series if you hate the writing that much why did you read past book one or two? If you started on book six ... well ... hmmm ... learn to count?

I skimmed through some of the complaints about Blood Queen a couple of months ago because I noticed that it had a lower rating than the other books. I found several common complaints about the book (which I do not agree with) and am glad Connie continued on with the series.
Blood Queen is really a turning point in the series. In fact, it could have been almost the start of a new series since Lissa ended up 300 years in the future and had to stay there.
Some people really seemed to dislike this turn of events, from a present day setting to another planet setting (more science fiction-like). So that is why they like the first ones and did not like this one.
Also the multiple mates seemed to really bother some people. They showed up here for the first time. The multiple mates is such an integral part of the rest of the series and the worlds that Connie creates that it seems normal to me even though it is not in our reality.
I would have preferred to see Lissa hand Wlodek his just "rewards" prior to being sent forward, but I think that it would really have interfered with the story arc development had she stayed.
1) Lissa vs. the Elemaiya - would she really have been able to allow Ashe to develop into the Mighty Hand?
2) An additional 300 years of Griffin's TLC ... /shudder.
3) Could you really imagine an older more experienced Lissa allowing anyone to lead her into the situations she had to deal with?

Absolutely right!!! I made a comment to a reviewer (on Amazon) saying almost the same thing. She/He had read four of the blood destiny series, blasted all of them and intended to purchase book five.
