I thought it was a given that Kay is the Changer? wasn't it said outright somewhere? i'm sure i read that in either BT or BD.

Clare,

These are the types of men that Connie uses to forge her female characters. It does not mean that all American men fall into those patterns. Bear in mind that the vampires from Earth are pretty old and did in fact live in time where women were effectively chattel in Europe. Jayson is a part of a dom/sub culture that makes his attitudes and behaviors seem perfectly reasonable in that context. Teeg is whole 'nother ball game, I think. He is his father's son.

While I know of men with these attitudes, I honestly don't know ANY men (as in friends with), on any of 4 continents that treat women this way. While "little girl" doesn't bother me, thinking that you can be the boss of me? Umm, not so much.

Even in the context of dom/sub, Breanne is not his sub, nor did she agree that he was her dom. This is what irritates me about his treatment of her.

The note on aftercare? BS.

How many times do they tell Breanne that the dom/sub thing is CHOSEN? Needed? She did neither and he had no right to lay hands on her. Would he do this to his secretary? To Trina? To his mother? I think not - thus he had not right to lay hands on Breanne. She had already made her feelings on the topic quite well known. Trying to pull her into his lifestyle which she has already said she didn't want to be a part of was not a dom thing, it was an abusive thing.

That's what the difference is for me between dom and abuse - one is asked for, the other is not.

@Clare I dont think that its been said outright that Kay is the changer, im sure that in Blood Double Pheligar or Graegar whilst speaking with Kal say perhaps his time would be better spent seeking out who the changer is as they didnt yet know.

Im with Perualpaca on the whole Jayson dituation, she has told them implicitly several times she has no interest in the whole Dom/Sub lifestyle choice and shown her fear of it previously so his actions can be seen as abusive. However i totally love his and Bree's interactions in general and find myself laughing at his and her come backs when there chatting.

I know you are all correct, but I just can't help but think that after literally thousands of years in many cases, that the men are still incapable of speaking and treating women as equals. They have managed to change and adapt in and to so many situations through their lives and yet this one aspect they are so primitive. Even the men like Tony and Winkler are not exactly normal, although those two are significantly better than the rest.nnI can accept it but it never stops me from wanting to mentally slap them!

Re Jayson sub/dom
Hank is currently "training" Jayson to be a Dom, could it simply be down to lack of knowledge on his part? This isn't exactly a subject I know much about aside from having read the obvious book (I was curious ok?).

@Bethan, Not directly perhaps, but she can read lives like Kal and Brea, and she changed a half to a full werewolf. That sounds like the third person in their club to me.

That's enough evidence for me. Not that Connie is incapable of throwing us another curve......

@Clare, Jayson is into the sub Dom lifestyle, I think his issue is he and Brea are mates and he feels that, so he is trying to force her into the mold he likes and understands because he doesn't know how to deal with the bond he falls back on what he knows. He shows by his shock to her reaction afterward that he meant no harm, he is merely an idiot and clueless to how he should act.

However, that does not make it less than abusive or contemptible. It is a reason, not an excuse. At least that is the reason I interpret from the book, I could be wrong, and if I am the only other answer I can see is he is just not a good person at all, but I doubt that.

Hopefully he gets a clue before its to late, there is a history of failed mate bonds, I hope he isn't one of Brea's
