@David, to be honest I hope it does fail. So far Bree is the most together of all the female characters, which is ironic considering her past. I hope she has the strength and common sense to keep him at a distance romantically. For whatever reasons the guy is an ass, Hank isn't much better. I was mentally shouting at my kindle when they had their first "encounter". What kind of heartless dumbs treats a woman of Bree's age like he did on her first sexual encounter?! On what planet did he think that was acceptable? Come to that, how could someone like Bree, with her head so much together and that had the presence of mind to have remained a virgin(I know not technically but that doesn't count) for all that time, how could she settle for something so loveless and humiliating?
I just think its to early to call, Reah and Lissa went through a lot more with some of their mates and forgave them, which honestly confuses me at times, almost to the point of losing respect for the protagonist for not kicking them to the curb when they completely deserve it from their actions.
For what's its worth I completely agree, but I won't be surprised if he sticks around either, mostly due to the amount Lissa and Reah forgave most of their mates. Most of the protagonists conflicts come from their mates and allies in Connie's books, not the "enemy". Lets face it, Jayson and Hank are pussycats so far in comparison to Gavin, Teeg, etc......
Anyway it seems to work as a compelling story, we all love the books after all.
