There isn't Robby, I'm sure i said a while ago when this all came up, I thought the same as you so I checked and searched every single book, the only mention on messenger is when the Dark Elemaiyia used one. Definitely not a power that is know as the messenger. Perhaps we are mixing it up with liaison?
@Clare. The straight rule for Lissa is there isn't one.......
In blood queen Kifirin says she is allowed to interfere, since she made no promise like he did not to interfere. In fact as the "balance" she should almost be required to interfere when she sees a problem, isn't inaction the reason the high demons lost that responsibility?
Then it was added she wasn't allowed to change the timeline by going in the past.
Then she could make changes only when in her physical body, it was going to be considered interference if she sneezed hard as energy despite killing off all those bad modified Raak and all the false mirror copies a book or so before that, not to mention juggling planets. Maybe that stuff was ok because Ashe said it was?
Oh, and despite the fact she is in her "present" the blue guys or Kifirin can tell her to leave stuff alone or it would be interference.
Have a headache yet? The only thing I can figure is Connie needed to add restrictions to keep her from bailing the kids out in book ten or interfering/helping with Reah in the demon series. Lets face it, it goes against her character to let things play out without trying to help.
Lissa is a nameless one, still with a mortal body though, hence the fogginess in the descriptions, plus she tends to downplay herself at times in the books. I think the like a sister part was modesty of some kind.
The Saa Thallarr do not have a balance, or rather they are the balance for the rogue copper Raak who break the rules.
The nameless ones are both light and dark.
Belen balances Kifirin (one example, since we don't who any other are outside of Lissa, Ren and Reah.
Larentii balances Raak (copper until Lissa changed it to black.)
I used to think that but I distinctly recall Belen saying that something was in the Dark realms so none of them could do anything. Meaning the nameless ones as well as Saa Thalaar.

Yes I do remember it being stated that Kifirin was Belen's Dark counterpart, but then that just reinforces my original confusion. There are multiple nameless ones and so on, but they are all light. It seems that the Dark realms have only Kifirin, there is no balance, even with thew addition of Lissa there isn't any balance as she can act for both light and dark.
Also, and this really makes my head ache, if someone of the light realm does something bad, they become part of the dark realm but when someone of the dark realm does good they do not become light.
I'm just wondering right now if a whole Dark realm hierarchy isn't about to loom its ugly head...
I don't recall them saying Kifirin was the only dark nameless one, he is just the only one we know.
Lissa would be considered dark realm wouldn't she?
I feel like I am missing something, where does it say if you are bad you become dark realm? Seems like a balance thing, but good/evil is on both sides, so I'm not really sure what the balance is balancing to be honest........
Didn't Reah become of the light despite being a dark realm race? She chose light when she became a nameless one. Mostly to get away from Kifirin I think.
I by no means understand it, just the Impressions I took away.
There is an instance regarding Shadow (I think) where they were worried he would destroy a bunch of people and go to the dark side. Also, there was concern for Kiara (Again i think) that at some point in the past she was dangerously lose to doing something that would result in her becoming dark. Then there was that saa thalaar healer that became obsessed and went over before being killed. There have been quite a few mentions of it.
It doesn't say anywhere that dark realm are bad and light good, that was my point. All the "bad" guys are dark realm only and all the "good" guys are light realm, but nowhere does it say that. I'm not saying everyone dark is bad, that is obviously not the case and Kifirin is not bad either, but all the bad guys, ra ak and the warlocks such as zellar are dark realm... even ones whose heritage was a light world are now within the dark realm. It's quite convoluted not to mention headache inducing.
Lissa is light and dark as i said. Kifirin is Belen's dark counterpart, however there are many others as well as Belen on the light side but we only know of Kifirin on the dark.
No, Reah is still dark realm because she is High Demon but as she is a Mighty those things don't apply anyway. A good example is Gilfrath who was copper Ra'Ak - dark realm - but changed to light and then was invited to the Saa Thalaar.
@ robbytonk - my note on the Messenger was aimed at the notion that the Shinning Messenger's rank (or lack thereof) can be determined by the use of "Messenger" not at anything else ... my apologies if came across any other way.
Lissa named herself as a midlevel nameless one and a dark realm god. She limits her power to what she can use while maintaining her mortal body because she would only keep Kifirin as a mate if she destroys it. This is her choice as she knows she is limiting her power to keep her mates (even if some of them need a good smack upside the head).
