From the reaction that is being described I think the first hypothesis is more likely that he realises for the first time that there could be a solution to the rouge gods and their allies
Regards the snippet like a hand grenade that has had the pin removed and is about to go off inside my head. For some reason the phrase "Do NOT trust Connie" keeps playing over and over inside one part of my brain, while the snippet explodes in another forcing my helpless, tiny little mind to work to figure out what the h*ll it means. Knowing all the while that whatever reasonable explanation I come up with for the snippet it will be wrong, wrong, WRONG.
That made me laugh so much, Phoenix!
@Robby, it isn't the rouge Gods you have to worry about so much as the Lipstick Goddesses (Sorry, couldn't resist)
It could also be that at the point the snippet is taken from, no one but him is aware of what Breane has just done?
Good point Clare and Connie does say this is the opening of the book for now so it's possible it will be changed or added to and yes Her majestic deviousness is fully capable of throwing us a curveball. By the way did any of you catch the photo of her magnificenes work station at home hehe a sneaky snippet there if you enlarge the photo.
"What's your plan if you do find Oscar Forde and/or Keir Arthur tomorrow night?" Opal asked. That gave me something else to think about rather than the violation of my privacy.
"It depends on where I find them," I said. "You know I'll want to take them out, but it doesn't need to happen in front of others."
