You are brilliant at playing devils advocate, it gives me other points to think about. The one thing I love about Connies books is that they make me want to think about who the different characters are and how things will play out. I can never help myself from playing out possibe scenarios while waiting to see what really happens.
I agree with Larry. The few "skills" noted are carpenter (he had to have some skills to get the original job and do the work in the kitchen. Also, very good persuasive skills to get those criminals to back him towards the end. I don't see him being a vampire unless he was converted by a light side person in some way. Also don't see him a werewolf, they get edgy around moon times (though I can't really remember if there were any moons on the planets mentioned). There is no true evidence of him being the mister who misted Reah or sliced up that one villian, we only would like to believe it was him. I am hoping he is doing all this to protect Reah with some aim to an unknown agenda. Will have to wait a couple months or so to see. Hopefully not too long!
I re-read the books again to try to put him in perspective and this is what I've come up with.
--I think there is more hints that he is an old Earth vampire than not.
--If he was lying when he told Reah he loved her, wouldn't her Guli talents have kicked in? I am trying to put what he says to her about killing Arvil in perspective. Never in there does he say he doesn't love her, only that she can't have the money. Overall, I think this is more of a blessing that a curse.
So I think mostly I am curious if the Guli gift doesn't apply to mates or if emotions can over-ride it or if Reah just hasn't put together that he hasn't lied to her, yet.
I think Reah was just so upset with everything going on that she didn't cotton on that he hasn't lied to her. I am looking forward to the next book to find out more about Teeg. I think he is one of the good guys as he has always tried to protect Reah, I think what he did at the end of the book was to protect her too but we will have to wait and find out what from!
I beleive Teeg is either Merrill or Merrill's son Jeff. Merrill and Jeff both look alike and their discriptions match what we know about Teeg. Remember Reah can see trough disguises so her description is likely accurate. Franklin, Merrill's other son and Jeff's twin has architecture degrees so Jeff and Merrill could learn anything they need to know about construction from him anytime. Jeff was the first natural born vampire. (As far as I know no one has ever mentioned what gifts he was born with but he does have elemaiya blood from Merrill; though i dont know what race Kierra belonged to before she was made Saa Thalar)I know we can't be 100% positive Teeg is vampire but all the signs scream modified Vampire!!! Most likely from Earth or has at leat spent time with someone from Earth. He definitely has some kind of compulsion, he "nips" at Reah and even brings her to climax that way, and curves his body around her protectively while she sleeps. I can't forget that time she was possibly misted to the pool and Teeg is the only one there with her in the pool (unless there is a mystery mister that never became corporeal). I know the mind reading has been brought into question as well but there were a few times Teeg was behind Reah and couldnt see her face and still seemed to read her mind. As mentioned before Reah would have know if Teeg lied to her about loving her. (I feel certain the only ones capable of getting around Reah's natural talents would be one of the Nameless Ones or the ones above them and I don't think Teeg is any of those) I could probably keep rambling on and on about this for awhile more but most of it are points already made. So... Definatly Jeff or Merrill?.. What do you all think?
Btw I'm sure u can tell I'm with those who beleive Teeg was protecting Reah the best way he could. There's no way Lindal would have let Reah leave as long as she was still Arvil's heir. And, all the baddies would have thought her an easy target. I wouldn't be surprised if Ry and Tory knew who Teeg was all along and was aware of his plan to get Reah out of danger ASAP. This was the only way to get her out of that mess alive without her having to lie to the ASD; which she would have had to do if she had been in in the plan. I think he felt as if he had to make her beleive he had betrayed her to keep her safe on all fronts!
Meh. We will have a better idea in a couple of days. But I just read the Demon books again, and two things hit me:
1) There seems to be a delay between Reah dropping into the pool during the firestorm and Teeg splashing into the pool after her. Could they both have been held in mist by a person not identified yet?
2) Reah coughs up water and smoke. Teeg does not cough.
Hehe...
