Teeg - Rant (read at your own risk)

Okay, I promised a rant on Teeg ... here it is.

I think that Teeg fully deserved the consequences of his actions, his treatment of Reah was the start of his descent into moral bankruptcy. The mere desire to, let alone the act thereof, control your mate against their wishes is, in my opinion, beyond the pale. One cannot have a healthy relationship based on slavery.

Teeg then continued to abuse all around him via anger, fear, and compulsion ...

While there may be some mitigating circumstances (Tybus and mind cloud) I believe that Teeg could have saved himself and many others a lot of grief had he manned up and asked for help or at least admitted to Lissa that there was a problem. Hiding behind "I might lose .." tends to erase any mitigating circumstances.

I look forward to Teeg 2.0.

Larry I think you've been quite mild. When it comes down to it what really is the difference between Teeg and someone like Acrimus? Control and domination are major themes for both.

Was I saddened by Teeg's end, of course; but now I'm looking forward to seeing how poor Tybus cleans up Teeg's mess. I hope for starters that her can remove those compulsions.

What I don't understand is why those around him were so dismissive. I acknowledge that Dee and some others occasionally commented on some of his actions but they didn't try very hard to make him listen. Dee especially. He would make one half hearted comment and then leave it be, then, in the end he had the cheek to say he tried to tell him, not very hard imho.

Let's see how his relationship with Reah will continue. Before his "death" it wasn't really at its best (to put it mildly), so now that he's clear will Tybus love her?

From what we've already heard about Tybus he appeals much more to me than Teeg h

@clare I also wondered about that, especially when it comes to Reah. She said herself that she didn't do anything athough she noticed he became more and more distanced, not to speak of all his deeds.

Just because I rant does not mean I have to be vicious about it ... lol.

Reah did rail against Teeg, a lot, her marriage to all her mates was an open invitation to all that wanted to commit to her (excepting Perdil).

I think Dee said a lot more behind the scenes than we have seen in the books, remember Dee is more of a support character although his side of the story might prove interesting ...
