I think at least now she has a good many mates that won't use/abuse her - Farzi, Nenzi, Nefrigar, Radolf, and Auri. I'm pretty sure Lok is a good one too.
At least Teeg and Reah had a good talk and I think there is hope, but I doubt they will ever be the same and he will still put work ahead of her, but he did tell her that for the most part.
Tory and Wylend... it's over
Lendill.. never got the attraction there in first place, but he will continue to use her.
Corolan not sure, he loves Reah, but also Wylend...
my 2 cents
Got it on my mind to change my ways, but I don't think I can be anything other than me.
- The Pretty Reckless "Light Me Up"
Prior to this re-read, I was irritated with Wylend and figured him thoughtless and was ready to call him difik, but figured that he would make up with Reah. AFTER the re-read, I'm ready to write him off.
Here's why - the conversation that he overheard with Teeg about Gavril -- that occurred WAY before he was in his snit about not being able to be with her after she got hurt. So that means he was eavesdropping her all along. And that is not acceptable in any sense of the word.
Severndust, agree completely that Wylend is the root cause of this fiasco. I see your point in Wylend should not have repeated anything he found out by snooping. Information Tory took on face value and ran with. Tory could have either ask Reah point blank or walked away. Wylend spoke out of turn and Tory acted like a first class idiot; ultimately they are both responsible.
Guess I didn't say this very clearly earlier.
What if Wylend's behavior is the result of a mindcloud spell?
What better way to disrupt both his relationship with all his mates, but also his rule...
just an idea...
As you can see, I have a more sympathtic view of Wylend, and his mate status with Reah, if it was an outside influence, than Tory's continued behavior which really has not changed. I realize Connie has set Tory and Reah up to save the High Demon's female birth rate, but honestly, cannot see that mate bond surviving his behavior.
