What I dont understand is why didnt Kifirin do to Glinda and Jayd what he did to Reah and Tory if he was so desperate for the High Demon planet to survive. Glinda could have had her own babies instead of stealing Reahs.

That gets explained somewhere..... Just don't remember where or what book.

Glinda has been unable to conceive since her twins were born.

Reah is more fertile because she is not full high demon

Full High Demons are only fertile occasionally, the minimum time was stated as 75 years, a great majority of the children are male, and twins are a rarity ... Glinda's twins were remarkable not only for being twins but female twins.

I imagine that Reah's daughters (37.5% High Demon) will be a bit more fertile than full High Demons.

I am a huge Connie Suttle fan, but this book royally pissed me off on many levels.
#1 Reah having to do everything by herself, tending to a highly lucrative crop that she paid for, tending to sick and injured that idiot Garde/Jayd send to her for over 25 years and not a thank you!!
#2 Having her children removed from her care because it is unbecoming of a female High Demon to live in the two bedroom shack Reah lives in, but yet she has to live their.
#3 All he mates except her Larantii don't come to see her (although it is only once a month). I know Krifin muted their love because he wanted her to continue to do what she was doing, but for what reason? To drive her to the brink? Well, he defiantly succeeded.
#4 I understand that she was abused as a child, but what happened to the Reah that killed 2 men in the kitchen on Mendil with a cast iron skillet and a kitchen knife naked? She seems to pick and choose her moments of strength and tenacity!!! I understand that she has a hard time asking for help, but she had 8 mates that she has been mated to for over 25 years, you tend to learn after that amount time your mates are not going to change, so if she needs help she needs to learn to ask for it, no demand it, and if they can't /won't get rid of them. Hell, even Dee could see what was happening to her.
#5 I understand that their is a reason that Connie plots her stories the way she does and that soon we will see the reason for all the pain/torture/abuse/neglect and so on that is heaped on Reah, but come on give the girl a break and let her be in charge of her own life and live it stress free and in peace doing the things she wants to do and being happy for once in her life.
Ok think that is it!!!

Okay, first off let me say I agree with your points ... now to play Devil's Advocate.

#1 Where was any of this out of character?

#2 Mainly Kifirin's fault but Garde is running a close second.

#3 The reasons, as I see them, getting Kifirin (the world) out of debt, saving the High Demon race, and allowing Kifirin (the godling) to keep his promise to Jayde.

#4 Every one of Reah's moments of strength are for others. She has only reached out to Auri twice in the beginning after that she has answered when contacted but has not reached out to her mates. The muting of seven mate bonds (I doubt Nefrigar would allow his mate bond to be muted) has to account for quite a bit of Reah's actions ... look at what that did to Lissa with only 2 bonds tampered with.

#5 Hero's never live stress free, boring lives ... that would make for very short stories ...

Kifirin in keeping his promise to Jayde seem to have broken every promise he made to Reah ... karma is a bitch ...

Good points Larry,

#5 is so true lol!

So what threads do we see still needing clean up from Demon's revenge?

1# Reah's recovery and what a happy dream life would mean to her.

2# Bel and others are still out there chipped and needing rescue.

3# Totally kick out or reconcile with some mates: Tori, Teeg, Lok, Auri, Lendill, and her two snake guys.
Notice I don't even mention Wylend or Radolph. Those I don't expect back in her graces.
Ry is new and was somewhat there for her, so see if he goes the way of the other mates (not
being there for her). Or if he sticks with her inspite of becoming a king.

4# Is the recovery of High Demon's now assured with the Reah's daughters?

5# Since it was pointed out her mates are kings in mutiple places, unlike Lissa's mates, how
will she and her mates actually make a life work without all those kings pulling her in different
directions with demands?

Any other threads I missed?
