Halivar is Karzac and, presumably, Kevis's last name. (Looked it up on the Glossary, so not a spoiler)

The shock displayed by Flavio could be at Reah rather than Edward, assuming they haven't seen her in some time.

In Connie's blog ( subtledemon.blogspot.com/ ), in a response to this snippet, Connie says "Lissa still has her nose, too, so be prepared." Presumably this hints that Edward is related to someone - and the list we know of those with Elemaiya blood includes: Tony, Lissa, Fox, Griffin, Henry, Gervais, Ashe, Edward, Luanne, Merrill, Macy, and Bryce. (I am sure I am forgetting some and am not including full Elemaiya.)

I agree that Reah did reach out and keep up with her mates. An excellent summary of the situation, imho, is the lunch on Le-Ath Veronis where all of Reah's mates show up, but only Ry even acknowledges her. For all that it is on Reah to demand attention from them, I can certainly see how 25 years of this treatment would wear her down completely. I'm really hoping a big part of whatever treatment she's getting helps her re-establish those foundations/beliefs she established in childhood which are so very skewed. And triple agree that any reunions with her mates would be best served in a controlled environment - if not at the hospital, than with someone who makes her feel safe in attendance. (And ANYONE *cough* Teeg *cough* who goes for the "Oh I'm so sorry, let's have sex now" should be shot.)

Final thought: I really, really hope there is a come to Jesus with the High Demon family. I'm not determined on the whole de-throning them thing, but they absolutely have to do some major effort to make things up to Reah. Garde grovelling for quite a while would make me very very happy. (Some serious Kifirin, Norian, Tory and Wyland grovelling would not be remiss also, cause you just know Wyland is going to want to meet Wyatt.)

This just occurred to me but is there any indication that Tory knows what his father has done to Reah over his 25 year absence. I can pretty much guess that he knows that Jayd and Glinda stole Reah's daughters even if it hasn't been phrased that way to him but shouldn't he be mad at his father and uncle for everything they did to Reah if he really cared? I guess if Kifirin messed with his head as well it could make a difference, if that's the case he'd better be pissed in the next book or forget Reah and her daughters all together.

Like Garde would own up to dising Reah ... although I must (under protest) admit that Garde may have had external "help" with his dishonorable actions.

As for what is going on ... well give it a few more days (-:

arghhhh counting down the days! I'm so glad Connie writes like a demon and we get books so often. Very excited to see Winklers reaction to Edward, i assume Lissa's reaction may be due to the fact he is Elemyia, if i remember correctly both Edwards parents had Elemyia blood? Or as kyler said it may be that Lissa can scent a family connection to someone she knows. Flavio i have no clue as to his reaction and can only guess it may be that as he was a council member during the time Edward was at Star Cove Wlodek presumably showed him the info on the kids. Im still hopeful for Rhea and Kevis, i kinda like the idea of them together as mates or friends

Weelll...considering Reah told Garde (and Jayd and Glinda) off immediately before her trip south(*), I would think more than a few people would be able to take him to task without his owning up. Though...sigh. I suspect Garde doesn't always get credit for being Lissa's 2nd oldest mate. When I step back and stop shouting "WHAT AN A-HOLE!!" at the screen, I occasionally concede that Garde and Kifirin's actions make some kind of sense for *them*. (The actions are still chauvinistic and obnoxious, but not out of character.)
