I thought perhaps the reason for Kalia/Kay maybe has something to do with timelines crossing or altering, im sure Ashe mentioned that in the future Kay and the shining woman (Breanne) are together, maybe by kicking Breanne out of the kitchen it has altered the timeline somehow. So maybe she has her current memories aswell as conflicting memories from an older version of herself. I actually have no idea what im on about lol but i think that maybe the only way to help is for her to meet Breanne as it sounds like Kay is the one Kal mentioned she would work with from time to time, cant remember but i think she was referred to as the changer.

I loved the book and am about to start my second re-read. In response to Larry's opening gambit, I think Kal the disgusting is worse than the mind cloud; purely because we don't expect behavior anything like that from Larentii. And I can't get over his height! I hope as he is stomping around grumbling about the shortcomings of everything that he bangs his head on a few door frames. Breanne is a great new female lead, she is so strong and (internally) sassy, but her story so far is so harrowing. I kept hoping for some respite for her but they were few and far between. It will be great to see how she develops over the series, and to see if she hands out a few well deserved come-uppences.
Well we do have some answers for events in the previous books now and as expected the mighty heart is the one of the mighty to be able to change what was. I thought for a time the mighty mind would be the one to hold this particular power as the larentii wise ones are the only ones able able to change what was. Lissa's comment in a previous book about being related to one of the mighty has also been clarified at last, woohoo who would have thought another sister.
Actually, it looks like she is related to both Mighty Hand and Mighty Heart so far. Ashe being her uncle from her mothers side and Breanne as sister through Griffith. Here is what Connie said on her blog site:
Lissa is related to Ashe through her mother, Harriett, and her grandmother and great-grandmother, all Elemaiyan. Breanne had a different (human) mother. Lissa is related to Breanne through Griffin, their father. Griffin is not related to Ashe, therefore Ashe is also not related to Breanne
I did think about Kay being Merrill's child from someone. Also that maybe Kay's two personalities are because she remembers another previous life?
But I do not seem guess very accurately how Connie's characters evolve. I thought Nissa (Lissa and Shadow's daughter) was going to be a major character and even thought she was going to the Mighty Heart
